Political correctness is now pushing us dangerously close to the brink of the government naivety that brought the treacherous ACTS OF WAR to our soil on September 11, 2001. Today, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that 5 of the Guantanamo Bay detainees accused of the deadliest terrorist attack on US soil in history would be tried in, of all places, Lower Manhattan NYC. For the life of me, I cannot put reason, nor logic behind this decision. How is it that these men can be granted the same rights as a US citizen and be given a trial on US soil?? Holder's weak explanation of "retuning to the scene of the crime" for the trial does not hold water in the least bit. These men were not even on US soil at the time of the attack! How is it the evidence will be brought to light when the majority of it is classified information? What if this information was obtained through water boarding, does it then get dismissed? The legal pitfalls in this case are staggering, to the point one begins to ask themselves whether these monsters will be roaming the streets of America after a botched trial.
The first and most obvious factor that must be addressed is that these men were engaged in a war when they planned and executed these attacks. They do not deserve our rights under the constitution of the country in which they are hell bent on destroying. They do not respect human rights nor do they hold the belief which all men are created equal, the cornerstone of our republic. Their acts were carried out strictly with the intent of destroying America, the atrocious murder of nearly 3,000 citizens was the tool used to meet that goal. This can never, in a rational world, be seen as simply a case of murder. The military tribunals were set up just for this reason and even if they had not yet existed, a rational leader would have created them in such a case. Can you imagine the bombers of Pearl Harbor being tried in a civilian court?
How the hell will there ever be a jury selected that is be impartial? The defense will certainly push for dismissal of any juror thought to be angered by 9/11 in NYC, but who does that leave you with? Perhaps radical Islamic sympathizers in the area who were applauding as the towers came down, or possibly a couple of 9/11 truthers- but then again how impartial are they in this matter? This is such a polarizing case with the overwhelming majority of people being biased with preconceptions, jury selection could quite literally drag on for years! I don't think there will ever be an impartial jury, so to avoid being thought of as stacking the deck against the defendants, they will take a page out of the affirmative action hand book and in the interest of diversity end up with a large portion of the jury being Muslim extremists sympathizers or far left Bush haters who will use this as their long awaited chance to put the practices of his administration on trial. It is disgusting that we even need to think about the politicization of this event, but it is clear this is exactly what the Obama administration plans to do.
From my understanding the families of 9/11 victims we not notified by the administration, but rather through the media as the rest of us were. This echoes the same disrespectful aura that The Chosen One exuded back in February 2009 when he dismissed charges against Saudi national Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri for plotting the USS Cole bombing in 2000. Ironically, now Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri will be tried in a military tribunal. The level of disrespect is intolerable at this point. Anywhere, or at any other time in the world, these men who are self proclaimed "terrorists to the bone" who said being accused of such offenses was "a badge of honor", would be tried by a military court under the pretense of the state of war we now find ourselves in. Only in the utopian world of sunshine and lollypops that the Obama administration falsely believes we are living in, could this even be perceived as a viable solution to the matter of trying these war criminals. It is bad enough that illegal aliens are granted rights under our constitution, but this is a matter in which our constitution is being exponentially manipulated.
Back to the matter of evidence, in 1995 in the civilian trial of Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman (The Blind Sheik) the prosecution was required to release the names of coconspirators regardless of if they were actually defendants. One such coconspirator in that case was none other than Osama Bin Laden, who then had the opportunity to hide not only himself, but also inform all of his militants who were on the list to lay low. This not only helped them abroad, but also in selecting the men who would infiltrate America to ready the 9/11 plot. In addition to this utterly horrifying prospect, it gets worse, what if the case is thrown out all together due to the torture of these animals while at Guantanamo Bay? There is a distinct possibility of this happening and it's going to take a lot more than Holder's assurance of the death penalty to convince me otherwise. There is no way that anyone, including Holder and Obama, can assure us of their guilt. So we are left hanging in the balance of a criminal justice system that was never intended to hear such a case, hoping Obama's justice department didn't make the worst mistake in the history of this country.
The fact that the trials are going to be held in NYC puts a giant bullseye on the city yet again, not that it has ever been out of the minds of these people, but being able to stage an attack on the city during a trial of their peers must certainly be on their minds now. How about the media circus that is guaranteed to follow this trial through it's every move? These men will undoubtedly be condemning America and mocking our justice system throughout the trial, giving them the first opportunity to convey a message back to the Middle East in years. There is also the prospect of these men interacting with other prisoners inside of whatever facilities they may be held in, unless of course they are held inside of solitary confinement, but I'm certain that will be ruled inhumane by the far left. It has been said that the police, FBI and other authorities need to be right 100% of the time and the terrorists only have to be right once, this is especially true when such a large bullseye is placed on the city.
Islamic terrorists have been at war with this country for quite some time now. September 11, 2001 was the direct result of our refusal to declare war on Islamic extremists. We now find ourselves under a Commander in Chief that refuses to say we are at war with Islam, engaged in a War on Terror, or even condemn the gunman at Ft Hood as being an Islamic terrorist despite the overwhelming evidence that he was in fact such a terrorist. To a point (hold your breath) I agree with Obama, we are not and should not be at war with Islam- we are and should so declare that we ARE at war with the Islamic extremists who have declared war on us. War is simply not that convenient, a nation cannot say "hold on, wait a minute, we do not want to be at war with you", if one side declares war on another, the only decision is whether it will fight or surrender in defeat. We cannot allow the latter to occur, for if we do, it will surely be the end of this experiment in freedom that we so proudly call the United States of America.

Renee K- Thank you for your continued support! Indeed I have signed the petition and fully support the Firefighters and the cause, I have many friends who are Firefighters.
The aminals of the Oklohoma bombings, the biggest terrorist (domestic) attack on US soil he'll-bent on killing men, women and children were tried in US courts among a fair jury, convicted and executed.
Just playing devil's advocate.
They were also US citizens, living in America and present at the time of the bombing. These men were picked up on the battlefield half a world away and were not citizens, nor present in the US at the time of the attack. Zacarias Moussaoui, the so called 20th hijacker of 9/11 was picked up in Michigan and successfully tried and subsequently found guilty in a civilian court, I had no objection to that or OK City, but we are talking apples and oranges with KSM and crew.
Seems to me that one of the 1993 WTC bombers was scheduled to be in court, in NYC, on Sept.11,2001. Now idiot-central wants to put five more terrorists, on trial in NYC, to turn on the Bin Laden spot light (like the batman signal) and put NYC directly in the crosshairs ONE MORE TIME.
Holder even told Jim (what's his name) on PBS, that the security is really good at the selected courthouse. There are tunnels to transfer the prisioners between the holding cells and the court house.... What makes these people disclose vital info on TV??? Oh, that's right, we're not dealing with terrorists, but plain old criminals.
I'm sure that Atty. Gen. Holder would not bring them to a US courtroom without being absolutely sure of a conviction. They must have a mountain of evidence beyond the confessions which are sure to be thrown out due to the likelihood of them being extracted under, shall we say, "duress". I think that bringing them to the US, to NYC of all places, is the right thing to do because it shows that we will stand by our principles as a nation and that we are not afraid of the terrorists, whoever they are or wherever they come from or affiliate themselves with. And it is sure to be a long trial, but during this whole process, these thugs are going to be in jail where they belong, where the environment is sure to be less than friendly. Minus the waterboarding, but still quite uncomfortable, I'm sure. And let's all remember what our actions of the past several years have done. They have swelled the ranks of terrorist and insurgent groups because our actions in the middle east and our treatment of the prisoners at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib have been a very effective recruiting tool for them, as well as weakening our standing as the beacon of light and hope for the world. If we are going to be the "shining city on the hill", we need to dispel our own shadows as well as the others around the world.
Wait, don't you all hate elitist, educated, book-reading New Yorkers?
