No matter what your feelings may be on social topics as of late, you must ask yourself if you are FOR or AGAINST the Constitution. Most legislation on the Federal level as of late is admitted by Congress to be unconstitutional. In order to put an end to this violation of our elected officials' oath to uphold it, we must fight for our state's independence. Google your local rep/state senator (or just click here) and find out how to contact them...then copy and paste (or rewrite) the sentiments below and send it off. I would like to hear how they respond to you, so please put their response in the comments below (with the rep/senator/governor's name).

PS, you have to identify who you are and where you're from or they'll ignore you.

Dear Sir/Madame,

We are requesting, at this time, you please invoke our state's 10th Amendment right in matters of all unconstitutional federal legislation, stated as such:

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor
prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to
the people.”

We remind you that it is your oath, under both our State's Constitution and our Nation's Constitution, to uphold the laws in this Republic and fight for matters in the best interest of your Constituents within those Laws.

Any violation of our Rights is a violation of LAW and you will be held accountable. We concede that the federal government (by its own admission) has grown well beyond its Constitutional limits due to the citizens' lack of vigilance. However, we, the People, are alert now. This most recent legislation regarding “Health Care Reform” is a direct violation of our 1st Amendment Right to Religion, as it would force us to participate in a program that defies how we value Life. Let alone, it is essentially a tax on our mere existence when we have a Right to Life, as granted to us by our Creator (Declaration of Independence).

We, as a sovereign State, are obligated under federal and State Constitutions to not only refuse to participate in this legislation, but repeal participation in all matters beyond the Constitutional allowance.

Please understand, if we are not making ourselves clear, that, as the federal government grows, the need for your job diminishes. As federal government grows, the voice of the individual diminishes and that is neither the spirit nor the intention of our republic. We ask you to cease and desist with any and all unlawful support of unconstitutional legislation and make efforts, as it is your job, to ensure the sovereignty of our state as it was intended. As citizens of the State of __________, it is our duty to ensure our state's sovereignty. No matter what the opinions of the majority may be; we have a Republic, not democracy. It is the duty of the few to uphold the Supreme Law of the Land for the freedom of the individual, and, therefore the entire Union; or everything our founders fought for shall be in vain.

Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,

Dear Jeff,

I appreciate your comments on the Tenth Amendment. During the last session, I introduced HJM4009, entitled "Claiming state sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment".
It was the third such bill introduced in the United States and afterwards 32 additional states introduced similar legislation.
This bill did not get traction last session (it was stalled in committee) but I will reintroduce it this coming session. There will also be other similar bills submitted nullifying intrusive federal legislation like the federal health care bill you mentioned.
Thanks again for letting me know your feelings on the Tenth Amendment.

Jeff, I would point out to him, too, that there needn't be LEGISLATION to convince a state to obey THE LAW. It's their duty and obligation.
